In the first two months of this year, a total of 10.813 million liters of beer were produced in Latvia, representing a 7.3 percent increase compared to January–February 2024, according to excise goods turnover data compiled by the State Revenue Service (VID).
During the same period, 11.897 million liters of beer were imported into Latvia, which is 19.7 percent less than in the corresponding months of last year.
In total, 15.681 million liters of beer were released for consumption in Latvia in January–February, marking a 6.1 percent increase compared to the first two months of 2024.
However, beer exports from Latvia fell sharply — by 53.2 percent in the first two months of the year. While 7.92 million liters of beer were exported in January–February 2024, this year the volume dropped to 3.705 million liters.
As previously reported, Latvia produced a total of 73.866 million liters of beer in 2024, a 0.3 percent decrease compared to 2023. That same year, Latvia imported 118.999 million liters of beer, up 7.7 percent from 2022.
