Latvian Agriculture Minister Armands Krauze met with the Israeli ambassadress to Latvia, Sandra Simovich, on Wednesday, and the two officials agreed that there is potential for further co-operation between their countries, particularly in areas such as innovation, education, research, forestry and food safety, LETA learned at the Agriculture Ministry.
Ministry representatives noted that exports from Latvia to Israel exceeded imports during the first nine months of 2024. Latvia mostly exported fish products, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, as well as dairy products.
Krauze and Simovich also discussed existing work between Latvia and Israel in areas such as food and agriculture, looking for ways of expanding this relationship further. The agriculture minister told the envoy about Latvia’s experience in ensuring a supply of food – something that is a key priority for the Agriculture Ministry in 2025.
