Kristaps Porzingis and the Boston Celtics won the National Basketball Association (NBA) championship on Monday, making Porzingis the first Latvian player to win an NBA championship.
In the fifth game of the final series, the Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks 106:88 (28:18, 39:28, 19:21, 20:21) at home to win the series 4-1. It is Boston’s first title since 2008.
Porzingis, who missed the third game due to his injury, was on the bench but did not play in the previous game, while in Game 5 he came into the court in the first quarter.
Porzingis played a total of 16 minutes and five seconds and scored five points on two two-point shots and one of two free throws.
