In October, more than 706,000 passengers chose to travel through Lithuanian Airports (LTOU) — a 9% increase compared to October 2024. Passenger numbers grew despite several temporary airspace restrictions introduced above Vilnius Airport and once above Kaunas Airport during the month due to safety measures for passengers and aircraft.
Vilnius Airport served nearly 507,000 passengers, Kaunas Airport handled over 152,000, and Palanga Airport welcomed almost 47,000 travelers. Compared to the same period last year, passenger traffic at Vilnius increased by almost 7%, at Kaunas by 11%, and at Palanga by a remarkable 31.5%.
The overall passenger growth was influenced by the seasonal demand for charter flights to destinations such as Turkey, Egypt, and other popular leisure countries.
The most popular scheduled flight destinations across the LTOU network in October were London, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Riga, and Frankfurt.
In total, 5,665 flights were handled across the Lithuanian Airports network in October — a 2.2% increase compared to the same month in 2024. Vilnius Airport handled 4,002 flights, Kaunas Airport 1,216, and Palanga Airport 447. Flight numbers increased at both Kaunas (+9%) and Palanga (+12%) airports, while Vilnius Airport saw a 0.5% decrease due to the temporary airspace restrictions implemented during the month.
According to LTOU representatives, the total annual passenger number across all three airports is expected to exceed 7 million for the first time in history by the end of this year.
It is also noted that the winter aviation season began at the end of October. According to LTOU data, more than 80 routes (including both regular and charter flights) will be operated from Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga Airports during the 2024–2025 winter season.
