Tallinn offering support for installation of lifts in apartment buildings

Tallinn’s property management priorities in 2025 will focus on how to improve energy efficiency in apartment buildings and how to enhance municipal properties, not least in terms of providing subsidies for the installation of lifts in apartment buildings.

The city’s new budget allocates EUR 45.5 million for operational costs and EUR 22.6 million for investments in this sector.

“Renovations, construction and design work for schools and kindergartens will ensure a better learning environment for children and teachers while also creating much-needed new slots for students and kindergarteners,” says Tallin’s deputy mayor Viljar Jaamu. “We have allocated nearly EUR 36 million for kindergarten renovations, including EUR 5.7 million for the Meelespea Kindergarten and EUR 6.65 million for the Loitsu Kindergarten. We also are expanding the Tallinna Realkool with a budget of EUR 15 million, with additional funding for renovation of the Kullo Hobby Centre. The total cost of the Kullo project will be EUR 33.5 million, including EUR 14.1 million for the coming year.”

“In addition to these educational facilities, I consider the development of an Olympic-standard swimming pool in Varraku Street in Lasnamäe to be particularly important,” the vice-mayor added. “This will offer the best support for professional athletes and youngsters who have a talent at swimming.”

Tallinn will also continue to offer renovation grants for flat associations, including support for innovative green solutions such as green initiatives, permeable pavements and vertical landscaping. The Estonian capital city will also support the development of bicycle storage facilities and introduce a new measure to subsidise the installation of lifts in multi-story buildings. Approximately EUR 4 million have been earmarked for these support measures for flat associations.
