US defence technology company Anduril, which develops autonomous systems and command-and-control software, and defence technology company ORIGIN, which develops autonomous unmanned aircraft systems, have agreed to assess the integration of their technologies to strengthen deterrence on NATO’s eastern flank. Under the memorandum of understanding, the companies will explore integrating Anduril’s Lattice software platform with ORIGIN’s autonomous BLAZE interceptor drone as part of a layered counter-drone air defence solution for Latvia. The memorandum was signed during the Latvian business trade mission organised by LIAA as part of President Edgars Rinkēvičs’ official visit to the United States.
Lattice is Anduril’s software platform, which brings data from different sensors and unmanned systems into a single environment. It gives operators a real-time view of the battlefield and enables them to assign tasks to connected sensors, vehicles and other assets. Under the memorandum, ORIGIN and Anduril will assess how BLAZE, together with deployed radars and other sensors, could be integrated into this environment. They will also develop a concept of operations for counter-drone missions.
The companies have agreed to conduct joint technology testing, demonstrations and validation in Latvia. They will develop a concept of operations, enable data exchange and assess the solution’s effectiveness in different counter-drone scenarios. This cooperation could allow interceptor drones to operate as part of broader defence infrastructure rather than as standalone systems. As threats become increasingly coordinated, integration within a common command-and-control environment is becoming essential to comprehensive air defence.
Mārtiņš Mārenis, Chief Commercial Officer at ORIGIN, said: “We want to work with industry leaders and innovators to develop counter-drone systems that make a real contribution to strengthening the defence capabilities of NATO Allies. Integrating BLAZE with Anduril’s Lattice platform would allow our interceptor drones to operate within a unified system, giving allied forces better situational awareness and a faster response to evolving drone threats. These are precisely the capabilities that modern air defence and countries on NATO’s eastern flank need to protect their airspace effectively.”
The memorandum was signed during the LIAA-organised Latvian business trade mission to the United States, which is taking place alongside the President of Latvia’s official visit. The mission runs until 27 September and covers New York, Los Angeles and San Diego. It brings together representatives of companies and organisations across four sectoral tracks, including defence and dual-use technologies.

ORIGIN came to the US with defence technology developed in Latvia and a concrete proposal for cooperation, while the signing of the memorandum demonstrates Anduril’s interest in developing that cooperation. Latvian companies aim to carry out joint projects with US partners, secure orders and attract investment. LIAA will continue to help advance this cooperation,” said Ieva Jāgere, Director of LIAA.
