Estonia’s government is considering postponing the completion of its Rail Baltica section until 2034, ERR reports.
The issue is being discussed during negotiations on the 2027 state budget.
Prime Minister Kristen Michal said Estonia could technically complete the railway by 2030, but this would require significantly more domestic funding.
Extending the construction timeline would allow Estonia to make greater use of EU funds available until 2034.
The Baltic states are discussing a joint position, and the Estonian government is expected to clarify its plans next week.
