Estonia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, major energy companies and government representatives have launched a study of the country’s future electricity needs, ERR reports.

The study will compare combinations of power generation, storage and cross-border connections at different levels of demand.

It aims to identify the investment needed for the most cost-effective mix and is due for completion by the end of February 2027.

An advisory council that includes participating companies and grid operator Elering will provide feedback, while a separate steering committee will approve the model’s assumptions and methodology.

The chamber says all technologies will be assessed on the same basis, with the findings made public when the study is complete.
