Drone crashes and explodes in Latvia

An unidentified drone crashed into a lake in eastern Latvia earlier today, exploding on impact and triggering a response from emergency and security services, according to local reports. Authorities received information from residents who reported seeing the object fall from the sky.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Krāslava region near Lake Drīdzis. Police, emergency responders, and military personnel were dispatched to the area to secure the scene and begin an investigation.

Officials have not yet confirmed the origin, type, or purpose of the drone. Authorities are continuing to examine the wreckage and determine whether the incident poses any wider security concerns.

No injuries or damage to civilian infrastructure have been reported so far.
