A new taxi service provider, Ruut LV, will begin operations in Latvia within a month, the company’s representatives told LETA.

The company said it will announce the exact launch date soon.

According to Ruut, the Road Transport Directorate (ATD) has issued a license to the newly established local company, which will initially operate in Riga.

Ruut will soon begin providing taxi services, along with launching a mobile app and establishing customer and driver support services.

The company was founded by a team of local entrepreneurs committed to offering high-quality transport services to Riga residents. Ruut representatives said that, in order to set new standards in customer service and create a favorable working environment for drivers, the team conducted several years of market research before obtaining the license, drawing on best practices from other European countries.

Andris Klavinskis, founder and CEO of Ruut, noted that by comparing taxi services in Latvia with those in other European countries, there is significant potential to improve quality.

“We plan not only to create new jobs and transparent terms of cooperation for drivers, but also to enhance the diversity of urban transport options and raise service standards,” he said.

As reported, the ATD registered three new mobile taxi apps in Latvia in the third quarter of this year.

The new service providers are:

• Rīgas Autonoma, with the mobile app X Taxi and the website www.xtaxi.lv;

• Kak, with the app KakTaxi and the website www.kaktaxi.lv;

• Ruut LV, with the app Ruut.

According to Firmas.lv, Ruut LV was registered in September 2023 with a share capital of €20,000. The company’s ownership is divided as follows: 66% held by Andris Klavinskis, 24% by Aigars Jermolajevs, and 10% by Pumity. In 2024, Ruut LV reported a loss of €27,135.
