Lonely Planet: Lithuania 2nd-best travel destination in 2025

The Lonely Planet, which is one the world’s leading publishers of travel guides, has named Lithuania as the second-best tourist destination for 2025. On Wednesday, the publisher presented Lithuania with an award in honour of this fact.

Lonely Planet vice president Tom hall handed the award to the director of Lithuania’s Tourism Promotion Agency, Olga Goncarova, at this week’s World Travel Market London, which is a major tourism and travel fair.

“I have no doubt that the Lonely Planet award will spur even more interest in Lithuania among participants a the fair,” Goncarova said in a news release.

It was in October that Lonely Planet ranked Lithuania as second-best among the top ten must-visit global destinations for 2025.

Experts identified four main attractions in Lithuania. The news release: “These include Vilnius, a green, vibrant and modern city with its unique history and cutting-edge bar and restaurant scene. The Curonian Spit National Park is spectacular in all seasons, the Hill of Crosses draws pilgrims from around the world, and there is also the pristine nature of the Aukstaitija National Park.”

Lithuania was ranked by Lonely Planet after Cameroon, and the organisation’s top recommendations for 2025 also include Fiji, Laos, Kazakhstan, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Vanuatu, Slovakia and Armenia.
