The international hotel operator Mogotel Hotel Group, based in Riga, continues to successfully develop its partnership with Europe’s leading hospitality company – the Accor Group. Previously managing a Novotel-branded hotel in Budapest, the company carried out a phased renovation that included room upgrades, design and furniture updates, and interior improvements to public areas and the bar. In April 2025, the hotel was rebranded as the Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre – a six-story Art Nouveau property located in the heart of Budapest, becoming the first premium Mövenpick hotel in the Hungarian capital.

Thanks to the effective collaboration between Mogotel Hotel Group and Accor, the hotel has become not just a renovated building but a vivid example of the fusion of architectural heritage and modern hospitality standards. Moreover, the project represents an important milestone in expanding and strengthening the premium hospitality segment in Budapest. The cooperation with Accor is a strategic step for Mogotel Hotel Group in further expanding its regional presence and providing a new level of service for midscale, upper-midscale, and premium hotels.

“It is with great enthusiasm and pride that I announce the opening of the fully renovated Mövenpick-branded hotel,” said Elena Stirna, CEO of Mogotel Hotel Group. “This important milestone is the result of more than three years of dedicated work and demonstrates the successful implementation of our development strategy. Restoring this historic building and breathing new life into it was an exciting and rewarding process. We are pleased to welcome guests to a space that harmoniously blends historical heritage, modern comfort, and a new signature style.”

The Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre is located in the former Palace Hotel, originally designed in 1911 by renowned architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab. The hotel now offers 227 renovated and comfortable standard and deluxe rooms, combining timeless elegance, contemporary design, and the cultural flair of Budapest. Guests can take advantage of 7 fully equipped conference rooms with a total capacity of up to 300 participants, ideal for business conferences, corporate meetings, and special events.

Founded in 1948, the Swiss Mövenpick brand has become synonymous with Swiss hospitality, known worldwide for its fine culinary traditions and exceptional craftsmanship. Guests can experience this at the Palace restaurant, which offers seasonal local dishes and signature Swiss chocolate desserts. The hotel lobby also hosts a daily “Mövenpick Chocolate Hour” – a tradition where guests are treated to premium Mövenpick chocolate delicacies and homemade sweets. This ritual enhances the cozy atmosphere and introduces guests to the brand’s rich culture.

“This project is yet another shining example of the successful collaboration between Accor and Mogotel Hotel Group,” said Vadim Muhin, Chairperson of the Council Mogotel Hotel Group. “The opening of Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre is not only an expansion of our presence in Central Europe but also a reinforcement of our position in the premium hospitality segment in Budapest – one of Europe’s most important cultural and business centers. It is a great honor to be part of the revival of this historic landmark, creating flawless comfort, high-level service, and unforgettable experiences.”
