Survey: 24% of Latvians plan to buy new home in next three years

The Luminor Bank has just conducted a new survey, and it has told the LETA News Agency, that 24% of people in Latvia are planning to buy a new home over the course of the next three years, most often in the capital city of Riga.

More likely to say so were young people aged 18-39 who already live in Riga, people with three or more household members, as well as people with higher personal or household incomes.

Most of the people who hope to buy a new home would like to do so in Riga (30%), while the second most popular place to buy a new home would be in suburban Riga (21%).

Luminor’s director for mortgage lending, Kaspars Sausais, says that the data are based on various economic factors such as job opportunities and the availability of housing.

The survey was conducted in all three Baltic States in September in partnership with the Norstat research agency. There were 1,004 respondents in Latvia, 1,000 in Lithuania and 1,012 in Estonia.
