The Estonian National Electoral Committee on Monday registered all candidates whose documents met the requirements — altogether nine political parties and five independent candidates, totaling 71 candidates, are running for the European Parliament.

The National Electoral Committee did not register independent candidate Arved Lillak, who had not transferred the required security by the set deadline. The committee also did not register seven candidates submitted by the Estonian Greens, because no security had been paid for them either. The party only paid the security for two candidates, Evelyn Sepp and Rasmus Laidvee, who were also registered as candidates.

The registration numbers of the candidates on the party lists as well as the independent candidates were determined by drawing lots.

According to the European Parliament Election Act, candidates may submit a withdrawal application within three days after registration, that is no later than May 2.

The European Parliament election week in Estonia runs from June 3 to June 9.
