This year’s Big Cleanup in Riga will take place in more than 750 locations, the annual campaign’s spokeswoman Anna Blaua told LETA.
One of the central cleanup sites in Riga will be Zakusala, an island in the River Daugava which needs to be cleaned of waste. Divers will also be involved to help with removing rubbish from the Daugava.
Zakusala is easily accessible to everyone in Riga and is suitable for leisurely and romantic walks, Nordic walking and activities for families with children.
At present, this large area needs to be cleaned up to make it a pleasant place to stay and relax.
