In January-March 2024 first-time registration of passenger cars in Latvia dropped 10.8 percent year-on-year, with 12,797 automobiles registered for the first time during that period, according to the information from the Latvian Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD).
The vehicles registered for the first time in Latvia in January-March this year also include 2,385 trucks, down 12.6 percent from the same period a year ago, 91 buses, up 75 percent, as well as 1,0005 motorcycles and trikes, up 23.3 percent.
The list of vehicles registered for the first time in the first three months of 2024 also includes 252 scooters, up 6.3 percent, 137 quadbikes, down 2.8 percent, and 1,575 trailers and semi-trailers, which is a 21.8 percent decrease year-on-year.
The total number of transport vehicles registered in the first three months of 2024 is 18,242, which is a decrease of 10.3 percent from the same period in 2023
In 2023, first-time registration of transport vehicles in Latvia declined 1.7 percent from a year before to 86,535 vehicles, including 61,002 passenger cars.
CSDD is a state-owned enterprise registering motor vehicles in Latvia, issuing drivers’ licenses and conducting road worthiness examinations of vehicles.
