Latvian exports of wooden furniture down 22.3% in first 11 months of 2023 – the largest number sold in Denmark

In the first 11 months of 2023, Latvia’s export of wooden furniture decreased by 22.3 percent year-on-year, with the largest number of wooden furniture still sold in Denmark, according to the Agriculture Ministry’s data.

In the first 11 months of 2023, Latvia exported EUR 176.643 million worth of wooden furniture, including EUR 46.997 million worth of furniture to Denmark, which is 26.6 percent (28 percent a year ago) of total wooden furniture exports and 26 percent less than in the first 11 months of 2022.

On the other hand, wooden furniture worth EUR 20.906 million was exported to Germany in the first 11 months, which is an increase of two percent compared to the first 11 months of 2022, and to Sweden – in the amount of EUR 14.68 million, a decrease of 18.8 percent. The export of wooden furniture to Germany was 11.8 percent (a year ago – 9 percent) of the total export of wooden furniture, and to Sweden – 8.3 percent (a year ago – 8 percent).

At the same time, wooden furniture worth EUR 82.382 million was imported into Latvia in the first 11 months, which is a decrease of 13.9 percent compared to the first 11 months of 2022.

The data of the Ministry of Agriculture show that most wooden furniture imported into Latvia is from Poland – worth EUR 30.356 million, which is 6.6 percent less than a year ago and 36.8 percent (a year ago – 34 percent) of total wooden furniture import .

In the first 11 months, Latvia imported wooden furniture from Lithuania for EUR 13.32 million, which is a decrease of 1.5 percent and accounted for 16.2 percent (a year ago – 14.1 percent) of total wooden furniture import, and from Italy – for EUR 7.861 million, which is 29.5 percent less than a year ago and 9.3 percent (a year ago – 11.4 percent) of total wooden furniture imports.

In the first 11 months of 2022, Latvia exported EUR 227.3 million worth of wooden furniture, while wooden furniture imports came to EUR 95.666 million.
